Practicing the presence

What does it mean to be faithful in your life situation? Brainstorm a list of areas in which you are tempted to compromise your faith. Circle the items where you are most tempted to compromise during any given day or week.

Memorize Revelation 2:10 – “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”

Meditate on this verse on your way to work or school, review it during your day, and again on your way home. At the end of the day play back what happened. Ask yourself, “Did I prove faithful today? Did I compromise?” Confess your compromises and thank God for the successes.

  • Prayers of thanksgiving and petition
  • Journaling or Silent reflection
  • The “Lord’s Prayer”
